UNIVERSITY MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER is home to the Keepers of the Spirit and the L.A. Davis Historical Collection, ex- hibits that document the 150-year history of the university. The exhibits provide a foundational experience for understanding the varied perspec- tives and enduring traditions of Black Arkansans – how they have dealt with their world and helped to shape it. Self-guided tours are available anytime the museum is open. Reservations are required for groups larger than 10 people. The exhibits are housed in the west wing of the Leedell Moorehead-Graham Fine Arts Gallery, at the Isaac H. Hathaway- John M. Howard Fine Arts Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
WHITE HALL MUSEUM features a collection that has grown to include a variety of memorabilia from several wars in U. S. history. One unique memento is a coconut sent by the late Earl Elkins as a “postcard” to his wife, Dorothy. Also included are a unique collection of women’s hats from the 1940s, antique paintings, an assortment of vintage children’s toys, a collection of pocketknives, and items from the Pine Bluff Arse- nal. The museum also features loaned and donated personal collections, plus works by local artists. A section of the Old Dollarway Road is located in a mini-park outside the museum. The museum is open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 1:00 to 4:00PM. For more information, call 870.247.9406 or visit whitehallarmuseum.org.
