JEFFERSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE replaced the first courthouse, built in 1833. Originally built of wood in 1840, this is the oldest court- house in Arkansas still used as a courthouse. In 1856-60, it was rebuilt of brick and renovated in 1889-90. After a fire that partially burned the building in 1976, the original central structure was rebuilt and a large, buff brick addition was built to surround the 1856 building on the east, north and west sides, completed in 1980. The courthouse is located at 101 West Barraque Street, Pine Bluff.
PINE BLUFF CIVIC CENTER was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. It is a colonnaded complex of three structures built from 1963 to 1968, It was designed in the Modern architectural style by Arkansas architects Edward Durell Stone and his son Edward Jr., their only civic commission in their native state, following his 1959 ground- breaking U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. The three buildings capture the Iwai Japanese Garden, given to the city of Pine Bluff in 1987 by its sister city, Iwai City, Japan. The Iwai Garden is the only Japanese-style garden open to the public in Arkansas.
PINE BLUFF NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY is a former National Guard armory at 623 West 2nd Avenue in Pine Bluff. Built in 1931, it is a two-story, Art Deco structure, built
of concrete and buff brick with a
castellated parapet. It served as a state armory until 1974, housing the 39th Tank Company, and now houses vocational classrooms. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
