   MUSEUMS
ARKANSAS RAILROAD MUSEUM
is a must-see for railroad buffs and anyone interested in mass transit of days gone by. The museum’s star attraction is Engine 819, the last 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomo- tive built in this very building in 1942. The engine has been lovingly rebuilt by volunteer craftsmen and restoration continues as time takes its toll on cast iron. The collection includes other locomotives, rolling stock, unique utility and mainte- nance equipment, plus an array of vintage memorabilia. A well- stocked gift shop offers mementos for railfans. The museum is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Tours are available year-round at the mu- seum, located at 1700 Port Road, just off U.S. Highway 65B in Pine Bluff.
